Arrival of participants. Welcoming of the group by Fonterutoli’s sommeliers, visit starts immediately after. Visit includes:
Visit to hamlet with amusing historical introduction, taking you back in the wonderful atmosphere of old times
Visit to the historical “barriccaia”. The Mazzei family will describe their intense and continuous relationship to the world of wine in general and the Chianti Classico in particular
Visit to Villa Mazzei’s gardens, located right in the middle of the hamlet. This has been the family’s residence for over 600 years. Our sommeliers will lead the group to the most secret and fascinating part of the gardens
Exclusive visit, reserved only to our guests: the historical library of Villa Mazzei. It contains all documents telling the family history. If present, the chairman of the winery for more than 50 years now, Marquis Lapo Mazzei, will be happy to welcome the group
Visit to the “wine library”, the historical archive with the most precious bottles. Our sommeliers will introduce our guests to the fascinating world of these unique wines and the philosophy of quality that has been guiding our company through all these years
11.30 am:
Arrival of participants at the “Enoteca di Fonterutoli” with wine tasting to follow. It includes not only the constant assistance of our sommeliers, but also:
Wine tasting of three different wines produced by the family
Basic elements of wine tasting
Introduction to the art of using the right glass for every wine, followed by an experiment with different kinds of chalices. It will be interesting for the sommeliers to know our guests’ perceptions and opinions
Basic elements of how to combine food and wine in a perfect way
12.30 am:
Arrival of participants at the “Osteria di Fonterutoli” for lunch.
Lunch includes:
Selection of Antipasti prepared by the Osteria’s chef
Different kinds of soups and starters
Main dish with meat and vegetables
Dessert
Mineral water and coffee
2 wines of the winery’s own production:
Badiola for the meal and a glass of Castello di Fonterutoli.
During lunch our sommeliers will complete their introduction into how best to combine food and wine. They will also provide basic elements of wine tasting and the perfect way to serve wine together with the ideal dish.
